TASTE: The Beer Keeper
Orange. Not just a presidential skin tone, also the name of a little region on Sydney’s doorstep and home of 1859 Central Ranges Brewing Co. and The Greenhouse of Orange. Legends who we’ve just happened to team up with on a collaborative brew, The Beer Keeper, an Australian Golden Ale brewed with local Stringy Bark Honey.
The project grew out of a discussion about Orange and the want to celebrate regional NSW. An idea brewed to create a beer that would simultaneously make a contribution to the area via a local men’s mental health charity while also championing the region and the quality of its local produce.
Having the greater production capacity, we jumped at the chance to host the brew in our Newtown brewery. The local Stringy Bark honey used we sourced from 1859’s own hives in Orange. In the glass, the red gold colour reflects this particular rich honey character. Redneck and Premium Pilsner malts feature in the bill, along with Manuka smoked malt to accentuate the bush flavours of the beer. The result is a light sessionable ale with fresh and citrusy hops.
The Beer Keeper will be launched on Sunday 26 November 2017 between 12-4pm at The Greenhouse of Orange. Coinciding with Movember, The Greenhouse’s own Movember team will be representing, with the Young Henrys crew on mo-judging duties for the event. This is an inclusive, fun, family event, and we are proud of that. But when it comes to the Mo comp...Fortune favours the hairy.
All proceeds from the sale of the collaborative brew will be donated to the Orange chapter of the Men’s Shed to bring awareness and support to mens mental health issues in the region.
